Timely visit helps keep training ship afloat |

Widnes Sea Cadet unit TS Eskimo were about to call ‘Colours’ when Freemasons Kevin Poynton and Brian Boothroyd requested permission to come aboard. Commanding Officer Lt. (SCC) Peter Kenrick RNR, was delighted to welcome them and they were invited to observe the precision of the ceremony. |

Aware that the Sea Cadets receive no funding from the Armed forces, the purpose of their visit to deliver a donation from the local branch of the order of the Allied Masonic Degrees to the value of £400.This was in addition to an earlier donation in December of £150. |
Then both Kevin and Brian, in true naval fashion were given a guided tour of the facilities by the C.O. who was indeed very proud of his training ship and the cadets and officers who made up the crew and afterwards were treated to a welcome cup of tea in the officers’ mess. |
Before parting company, the visitors were given a thunderous round of applause by the crew in thanks for the donation and Lt. Kenrick requested that the thanks of the whole team be given to the Allied Masonic Degrees for their help and support. |
Kevin congratulated the C.O for his hospitality and thanked him and his staff for the wonderful work they do in their continued dedication towards making the young Cadets better people by their efforts. |
